Russians bought in Turkey almost two thousand apartments in nine months

Russian buyers of real estate in Turkey ranked third among foreigners investing in Turkish apartments the most in 2020. So for the first nine months in 2020, Russians purchased 1,895 housing objects in Turkey, 448 of this number fell on the September sales.

Which countries are most likely to invest in Turkish property? The first place is taken by the Iranians by a wide margin from Russian investors: 4,716 properties purchased in the first nine months of 2020 and 908 properties in September. The second place is the Iraqis with 4,167 objects in nine months and 826 in September. The residents of the Middle East become the owners of Turkish real estate (and receive citizenship) in a very unusual way. Unable to withdraw money from accounts in their countries or get cash, they bring raw gold in their luggage to Turkey in order to buy an apartment with it and obtain Turkish citizenship for the whole family.

Nationals of Afghanistan took the fourth place (1,277 properties in nine months), the fifth place is taken by nationals of Azerbaijan (711 objects in nine months).
