Developers and real estate agencies in Turkey expect an increase in the interest of foreign investors in Turkish housing in the near future. The factors for this growth are the growth of foreign currency exchange rates and the attractiveness of Turkey's healthcare for foreigners, on the development of which the country spends huge budgets.
Hakan Yılmaz, chairman of the board of the investment and construction company Yılmaz İnşaat (Istanbul): “The impact of the coronavirus pandemic will gradually decrease, while the number of foreigners who want to buy an apartment in Turkey will grow. Once regular flights to other countries are fully resumed, Turkish property sales to foreigners will quadruple. It can be expected that all those who wanted to buy housing in Europe - Spain, Portugal, Italy, Great Britain - will choose Turkey. Investors, especially wealthy ones, are concerned about the lack of hospitals in Europe, so as an alternative, many will choose to buy real estate in Turkey."
Over the past seven months, home sales in Turkey to foreigners have decreased by 29.6 percent. In 2019, 45,483 objects were sold to foreigners from January to July, while this year - only 17,000.
