Sales of apartments in Turkey to foreigners grow five months in a row

Despite the restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic, which has affected the whole world, sales of houses and apartments in Turkey to foreigners have increased for five months in a row. According to the Anadolu news agency, in March 2020 home sales to foreigners began to decline and by April reached the lowest level in the last seven years: only 790 properties were sold for the entire month. However, in May foreigners again began to more actively buy apartments in Turkey, sales continued growing for three summer months in a row.

The September total of 5,269 properties is the highest monthly sales of real estate in Turkey to foreigners this year. The results of September 2020 are 26.1 percent higher than the same month last year and 35.3 percent higher than in August 2020. Emlak Kulisi, a specialized publication on the construction and real estate of Turkey, reports that home sales to foreigners have returned to their "pre-coronavirus" level.

How many houses and apartments in Turkey have foreigners bought in 2020? From January to September, the total sales reached 26,165 housing units. In the same period last year, foreigners bought 31,925 houses and apartments in Turkey, which is an 18 percent increase. Market experts predict that the growth in home sales to foreigners will continue and will amount to more than 40,000 objects by the end of 2020.
