Preference is now given to low-rise buildings

As part of the first stage of reconstruction of 11 provinces affected by the earthquake in Kahramanmarash, 200 000 (to be more precise, 199 739) residential residences and 73 972 village houses will be built. Moreover, residential buildings will be no more than 3-4 floors high.

So, the construction of permanent housing has begun with the help of TOKI to replace the lost one. First of all, 45 067 residences will be erected in Kahramanmarash, 44 770 - in Malatya, 40 426 - in Hatay, 25 882 - in Adiyaman, 18 544 - in Gaziantep, etc.

Residences in the bulk are planned with an area of 105 sq.m gross, of which 85 sq.m is residential space. Village houses will be built in 3+1 format with a veranda, with a living area of 93 sq.m. They are intended for residents of villages whose houses have either been destroyed or are subject to demolition following inspections.

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has officially confirmed the early settlement of earthquake victims in new permanent residences. Ground surveys have already been carried out where the very first residential projects are planned – for 855 residences (in Gaziantep districts). In total, work on projects for a total of 14 597 future residences managed to start.

Also, those who wish can receive a subsidy of up to 0.3 million Turkish lira for the construction of their own house: 300 000 for "traditional" reinforced concrete buildings, and 200 thousand for ready-made factory-assembled housing.
