Passenger traffic through Istanbul's air hubs is approaching 100 000 000

Istanbul continues to be one of the world's key air hubs, especially since the New Airport is increasing its capacity more and more. As a result, last year passenger traffic at the airports of the largest Turkish metropolis exceeded 95 million people. This is immediately 53% more than the previous year - 2021 (65.1 million).

The main mass of passengers came to the New Airport: for domestic flights - 15.9 million (compared to 10.6 million last year), for international flights - 48.6 million (against 26.5 million). In total, this is 64.5 million, compared with 37.1 million a year earlier.

15.2 million people arrived or left Sabiha Gokcen on domestic flights and 15.6 million on international flights; a total of 30.8 million passengers.

Perhaps passengers will now choose the new airport even more often due to the fact that a long-awaited metro station opened here a week ago: previously, it was possible to get to the air hub by taxi or transfer buses.

The metro was «extended» to Sabiha Gokcen Airport in the fall, which even led to an increase in the cost of real estate along this route.
