The Russian-speaking community in Turkey was stirred up a few days ago by rumors about changes in the rules for obtaining a residence permit for citizens of the Russian Federation (let's clarify that at the moment this is not officially confirmed information, despite the fact that it was reprinted by a number of Russian news media: people share information in social networks, taking into account the experience of visiting instances, mentioning unmotivated refusals to submit documents).
As in the case of previous changes that took place in 2022, the innovations will not affect those who already have a valid residence permit and who will have to apply for an extension.
Also, there will be no questions for spouses and children under the age of 25 who receive a residence permit "for family reasons" - joint ownership of an apartment, family reunification, etc.
As for the "newcomers" - applying for a primary residence permit - they started talking about the fact that they are required to confirm their financial viability: what income they plan to live on in Turkey (this is primarily aimed, as you might guess, at trying to track down those working illegally).
So, pensioners will be asked or allegedly already asked for confirmation that they are pensioners, indicating the size of the pension. From "remote workers" (those who work for a company in the Russian Federation and receive a salary on the card), they require a kind of work certificate with information about monthly income. Moreover, it seems to be necessary to put an apostille on this kind of "confirmation", which in itself is not cheap. By the way, the apostille is a controversial issue: it is difficult to put it on the same income certificates for the self-employed, because it is not exactly a "document".
"Transfers from relatives" and "savings in the account" as arguments in favor of obtaining a residence permit will not be taken into account, as they write in the messages "victims", that is, the documents submitted for a residence permit can be "wrapped up" with them.
Moreover, the new requirements allegedly have been in effect since December 26, 2022.
At the moment, the editorial office has neither final confirmation nor official refutation of this information, except for numerous outraged posts in social networks from those who were refused for the reason mentioned above; it is only known that those who applied for a tourist residence permit on the basis of rent received refusals, and then not all. And those who bought housing in "open" areas have nothing to worry about yet.
Turk Estate will continue to monitor developments.
Recall that a little earlier we wrote about the tightening of the conditions of citizenship for investments and that the property tax will increase markedly in 2023.
