It was decided to demolish the Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Educational and Research Hospital in Ankara, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey. He was influenced by the verdict of the Commission for Assessing the Sustainability of Buildings related to the field of medicine: it was created in the capital after the devastating earthquake in Kahramanmarash, Milliyet reports.
The hospital Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt was founded in the 60s of the last century and is designed for 300 beds. Later, its capacity significantly increased due to the opening of new branches.
The commission examined the condition of the structure of the institution, which has six buildings at once; it was found that most of the buildings have cracks on the walls. As a result, it was decided to evacuate the hospital, which had been providing medical services to residents and guests of the capital for many years.
This is reported in an official letter dated February 22, 2023. As a result, the blocks of the educational and research hospital Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt and other buildings on the medical campus, including the hematology and oncology building, will be demolished.
So far, the hospital continues to provide specialized services. There are 795 doctors, 964 nurses and midwives and 786 health workers working here; the institution is operating at full capacity.
Let's clarify that such inspections have been launched not only in the capital, but throughout the country: the Minister of Health explained that hospitals that turn out to be unreliable in terms of earthquake resistance will be closed. Their further fate will be determined later: repair or demolition and "relocation" to a newly built building.
Earlier we talked about the volume of sales of residential real estate in Ankara. In addition to housing, land plots can also be purchased here, for which appropriate auctions are arranged. So, at the end of December, 24 land plots were put up for sale.
