Real estate in Turkey: the main news of the past week – December 3-9

A selection of the most relevant news of the real estate market of the Republic of Turkey is in our first December digest.

Last week there were several important social news, as well as related to transport infrastructure.

The new viaduct in Konya will become a landmark for Turkey and will simplify «communication» between different parts of the country.

Gazipasha Airport (near the resort of Alanya, Antalya province) will be expanded and modernized, so it's worth waiting for the expansion of the international flight program, which will certainly simplify the situation for Russians too.

Now about the social: the rules of conduct have been updated within the framework of «Silent Turkey» program, now construction noises at night will not bother either residents or tourists: the authorities promise to monitor this more vigilantly, since earlier some developers used their impunity, and in some places «loud» work was carried out around the clock.

A special bureau for foreigners has opened in Antalya: now those who wish for a certain amount will be able to issue all the necessary documents easier and faster, as well as get the date and hour for a rendezvous outside «free» queue (regarding the submission of documents for a residence permit) no later than within a month. Recall that due to the large influx of immigrants to Antalya this year, the expectation of a rendezvous was sometimes delayed for a few months.

As for preferential housing programs: one of these will be offered in Dyuzdzha, which has recently suffered from an earthquake. Some more beneficiaries - those who are willing to take out a loan in the amount of half a million Turkish liras - will be offered a discount on the purchased housing in the amount of 0.2 million liras, which, in fact, will «forgive».

Since not all households from those who need it can afford to rent or purchase an apartment: it has become too expensive.

The Istanbul Municipality is taking its own measures on this occasion: to normalize rental rates, it was decided to raise the tax for owners of residential real estate who do not live in an apartment or house themselves, and do not rent them out.

Istanbul remains a very popular city in Turkey in terms of investment in housing; but in this sense it has become inferior to other world capitals, due to the instability of the economy and the nuances of local legislation.
