Real estate in Turkey: the main news of the past week – August 20-26

We present the most significant news of the real estate and construction segment in Turkey over the past week.

At least two legal-related news deserve attention. Firstly, real estate agencies began to actively check for violations. Secondly, the authorities allowed the conversion of unclaimed offices into housing, in order to expand the range of affordable housing stock on the market and reduce real estate prices; an application can be submitted until July 2023.

The long-awaited changes have finally begun in the rental segment. The rates gradually «crept» down, and the priorities of the owners, who previously clearly preferred foreign tenants, have noticeably changed. By the way, landlords have been fined more often for violations, at least in the territory of Antalya province.

In general, the life of immigrants in Antalya is becoming more comfortable: the administration has decided that local taxi drivers should speak Russian, English and German at least at a basic level sufficient for passenger service. For which the relevant courses are organized.

From the recently obtained statistics, the following figures should be noted: sales for seven months increased by a quarter, and the volume of housing sold to foreigners immediately increased by 60% compared to the same period of the previous year.
