Real estate in Turkey: the main news of the past week – March 11-17

A selection of the most relevant news of the real estate market of the Republic of Turkey is in our next digest.

Istanbul has been on the agenda every now and then over the past week, in a variety of aspects.

First of all, for the reason that the largest Turkish metropolis is located in a zone of increased seismic danger. Moreover, there is a lot of housing here - especially emergency housing - and there is also a lot of new construction.

So preventive measures are being strengthened, and the previously announced nationwide program of "urban transformation" in Istanbul is accelerating.

For example, people who want to independently strengthen and repair their own homes right now in order to remove responsibility from local authorities in this sense, thereby facilitating work are ready to provide a preferential loan for two years for these purposes.

In parallel, the municipality will check all the old buildings of Istanbul for the quality of construction and earthquake resistance; you can apply for an inspection of your home via the Internet, this service will be provided free of charge.

One and a half million already identified emergency buildings are planned to be moved. Those who wish to move to a new house of their own instead of an apartment in an old building can take advantage of a state subsidy: now a detached building can be purchased from only 280 000 Turkish lira. This is without taking into account the amount allocated by the state as financial support to buyers; however, the action applies only to factory "prefabricated" houses, fixed layout.

As for new projects in Istanbul, a complex from TOKI for six and a half hundred apartments has been announced in Ferhatpash.

Those who want to move from Istanbul to more "calm" cities in terms of exposure to tremors, as it turned out, often choose Ankara. Where many migrants have already arrived over the past month, as a result of which housing prices have jumped sharply in the Turkish capital.
