Apartments in Istanbul increased by 22.7 percent in a year

The average housing cost per square meter in Istanbul has increased (from the end of August 2019 to the end of August 2020) by more than 1,000 TL over the year. These figures have been published by Emlak Kulisi, the construction and real estate newspaper in Turkey. The property prices growth stats for apartments in Istanbul are as follows: in September 2018, the average cost per square meter was 5,123 TL (about €550). Then, until April 2019, there was a decrease in property prices in Turkey, during which the average cost per square meter dropped to 4,623 TL (about €495). Since May 2019, prices for Turkish housing have been growing for 17 months in a row, at the end of August 2020, the average cost per square meter in Istanbul was already 5,767 TL (about €615). Thus, in 8 months a square meter of Istanbul housing has risen in price by 828 TL (about €89) or 16.8 percent. The annual increase in prices (from August 2019 to August 2020) amounted to 1,069 TL per meter (about €114) or 22.7 percent.
