The updated tariff for the minimum fee for real estate services for 2023 came into force; the official decree was published in early October 2022.
Thus, following the rise in rental prices, there was an increase in the intermediary tariff. And at once by 100%.
This is caused not only by inflation: due to the increase in the number of disputes between landlords and tenants, the mediation system has recently been used more intensively, and realtors are involved not only for the display, delivery and acceptance of apartments or houses: they become a kind of «mediators» in court proceedings. According to recently obtained statistics, it was thanks to the additional consultations of realtors and their testimonies in court that about three million court cases were successfully resolved; disputes between the parties with the assistance of specialists were settled much faster.
So, a lot of renters = (as well as apartment owners) are now trying to choose not the first real estate agent they come across, but a very experienced one, in order to be able to enlist his support if something suddenly goes wrong.
Accordingly, with the increase in «functionality» and the expansion of the area of responsibility, the increase in the specialist's fee looks quite reasonable; although Turkish citizens are upset by such a significant increase in the tariff.
In parallel, the fight against illegal realtors continues throughout the country and landlords have begun to be fined more often for violations.
