There is the light at the end of the tunnel: foreigners were promised to make the procedures of obtaining a residence permit much easier. However, there is no question of opening areas that are closed for obtaining a residence permit under TAPU and lease agreements. Nevertheless, the authorities intended to return tourists who left the country after tightening the rules for issuing residence permits, as the local tourism industry, shops, restaurants and other establishments lost a significant part of their income.
The first step is that Mehmet Ersoy, head of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, settled with migration agencies the issue of simplifying the opening of accounts in Turkish banks for foreign tourists. Banks have been demanding to deposit huge amounts in foreign currency over the past year and a half, but not everyone has been able to open an account and bank cards on such terms. This is a prerequisite for buying an apartment, and it is important to live in Turkey for at least a few months without obtaining a residence permit. It is a matter of convenience for those who stay in the country for more than a couple of weeks as part of a package tour.
The Hurriyet newspaper refers to Mehmet Ersoy's words, saying that foreigners will be provided with any assistance in opening bank accounts, including detailed instructions from bank employees, if necessary, so that a person does not get confused in documents and forms. This change was approved by the Ministry and the Association of Banks of Turkey. The order has been redirected to the structures responsible for its implementation.
It was reported that the rules for short-term rentals would be adjusted.
