Foreigners spent $6.7 bln on real estate in 2020

From January to September 2020, residents of different countries bought houses and apartments in Turkey for $ 6.7 billion. Market experts believe that the annual volume of real estate sales to foreigners will reach 7 billion. In total, from January to September, foreigners purchased more than 26,000 units in Turkey. Contractors and property sellers expect that by the end of the year the number of properties bought by foreigners will reach 35,000-40,000 units.

During the coronavirus pandemic, the preferences of foreign investors have slightly changed. Buying interest in housing in the Anatolian and Aegean regions has increased. Previously, foreign investors used to buy housing in Turkey as a perspective investment, but now more and more foreigners are buying property in Turkey for temporary or permanent relocation. Foreign residents choose Turkey because of its reliable, strong and modern healthcare system. This year, there has been an increase in interest in Turkish housing from Germans and Swedes, nationals of Pakistan, India and China.
