An electronic identity verification system will help to avoid TAPU forgeries

A «new era» has begun in the land registry, due to the electronic Identity verification System (EKDS). This method of identification will allow participants in housing transactions to further protect themselves, since it will become much more difficult to forge documents for ownership of property.

Now citizens who come to the land cadastre departments to make a transaction will «check» their certificates through a POS device. Which will correlate the data in the system with fingerprints.

A «pilot» run-in of EKDS is already underway in some cities, primarily in Istanbul. To make transactions, you now need updated identity cards, with chips. The old-style certificates will still be valid for some time, but they will need to be replaced later. Also, the new certificates, experts emphasize, the chips must be in good condition: not cracked, not scratched, not deformed. If the chip is damaged, it is recommended to replace the document again, especially if a real estate purchase and sale transaction is planned in the near future.

From other important news of the legal plan recently:

an interactive map of «closed» areas of Turkey for obtaining a residence permit for TAPU has been created;

illegal realtors-foreigners create a lot of problems for the country.
