36 percent of foreign investment in Turkey made to get Turkish citizenship

Foreigners are increasingly buying real estate in Turkey to get Turkish citizenship by property investment. In the last quarter in 2020, about 36 percent of foreign investments were made to get "golden passports". This has been said by the construction and real estate newspaper in Turkey Emlak Kulisi with reference to the real estate appraisal and investment company EVA. In total, in the third quarter of 2020, to obtain citizenship, foreigners bought 2,252,840 square meters of housing in Turkey, 17 percent of this volume is properties in Istanbul.

What countries are the most active investors? Investors from Palestine have topped the list. They have been followed by nationals of Afghanistan and Egypt. The top list of buyers also includes Dominican Republic, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, Iran, Algeria, Saudi Arabia.

As of the end of the third quarter of 2020, Konya became the most popular city among those wishing to get Turkish citizenship by property investment.
